We recently printed some letterpress greeting cards for one of our favorite companies, Warby Parker. We love their eyeglasses and sunglasses, so we were excited to collaborate with them on some note cards for their new Brooklyn location. Each set has 4 different designs, which feature really cute illustrations of New Yorkers with great eyewear by Joana Avillez. They're a really lovely set for anyone who enjoys sending and receiving snail mail.
We printed these sweet letterpress bookmarks celebrating the release of a book by Brooke Dierkhising called Many Ways to See the Sun. The illustrations of the rabbit and feather were originally watercolors, and they look beautiful printed in this cheerful blue.
Here's a close up of the bookmark while on press. The blue ink is so striking on the rollers and the plate, but softens a bit when printed on a warm white paper.
When you pack your bags for summer get away, don't forget one of our letterpressed bookmarks to keep your place.
Inspired by the scenes of the accessories counter in the PBS series Mr. Selfridge, these bookmarks are perfect tucked into our favorite classics, as well as some new beach reads.
We're really excited that these are now all available at the new paper shop at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC, one of our favorite places in the world.
You can also purchase them on our website.
Here at Sesame, we love the traditional art of letter-writing and the luxury of fine stationery. With an affection for all things paper, it's hardly surprising that we are still massive fans of printed books. Even in the age of virtual books, we love turning actual pages! The bookmarks from our selection of products were designed specifically because we want to perpetuate the traditional notion of a book. And we were delighted to be asked by our good friend, Matt Singer, to print a range of book plates that he designed.
The color palette and handwritten font caught our attention and the whimsical illustrations made us smile.
We now want to stick these into all of the books on our shelves!
