Semi-Custom Wedding Invitations: A Personalized Experience Without Starting From Scratch

Modern Garden Invitation Suite, photography by Francesca Dominique Photography

We love making invitations for June weddings as many of these incorporate beautiful flower imagery. One of our favorite designs is the Modern Garden invitation suite. We had the pleasure of customizing this design for Nicole and Ross's June wedding at the Burr Mansion in Connecticut (happy first anniversary!).

We specialize in semi-custom wedding invitations. Our passion is letterpress printing beautiful paper goods using our antique presses and premium cotton paper. Our clients are drawn to the elegance of this historic printing method and the understated sophistication it brings to their wedding style.

The couples we collaborate with are creative and want to personalize their wedding invitations to reflect their style and the feel of their celebration. At the same time, they're busy juggling careers, wedding planning and other obligations. They may know what they like but aren't quite sure where to begin or have the vocabulary to describe it. Our semi-custom process offers the creative collaboration of custom wedding invitations without requiring couples to start from a blank page. They can begin the design process by selecting a design from our collection that resonates. It may be the typography—a traditional, modern, or somewhere-in-between style. Other times it's the imagery—something inspired by a garden celebration or a wedding by the sea. From there, we collaborate to select illustrations, recommend ink colors that complement the event aesthetic, and identify thoughtful details that make the wedding invitation suite feel personal and unique, like the disco ball on the timeline card in Nicole and Ross's suite pictured above.

Throughout the collaboration process, we're always thinking about how to make a couple's life easier so they can enjoy this special engagement season, how we can help their wedding planning process and how we can we help them express the genuine care they feel for the friends and family they're inviting to celebrate with them. Couples put an incredible amount of thought into every detail of their wedding day. That care reflects the gratitude they feel for the people sharing this special occasion. We prioritize listening carefully and working closely with each couple to ensure the finished suite reflects that sentiment. We want guests to open their mailbox, discover a beautifully handmade letterpress wedding invitation, and immediately feel that their presence is important and genuinely valued.

If you're looking for wedding invitations that feel personal without starting from scratch, we'd love to help you customize one of our semi-custom letterpress invitation designs! A Modern Brooklyn Wedding in Williamsburg

June 14, 2026

Happy Anniversary to Jackie and Ben today!

All of us in the studio adore our pets and Brooklyn, where we live and work. Designing and letterpress printing wedding stationery for Jackie and Ben was a particular joy for us! They selected our Hudson design for their wedding at 74Wythe in Williamsburg. All of the suites in our collection are designed to be customized and they selected a crisp black ink paired with bright blue graphic lines. The envelope liner featured an illustration of the Manhattan skyline (the view across the river from the venue). We used a taxi silhouette for the website response card. The highlight detail on the suite was a drawing of their beloved dog, Lumi, in a bowtie, illustrating the event’s attire. It’s important to us that a wedding suite complement the location and style of the celebration but even more important is that the stationery reflect the style and personality of the couple. Often, this can be accomplished with a small detail like this image.

We hope that guests received their invitations and immediately smiled and eagerly accepted with pleasure!

Classic Pink Letterpress Wedding Invitations for a Cape Cod Wedding

April 5, 2026
Our antique press inked in pink for invitation printing

We spend the early months of the year designing and printing invitations for spring and summer weddings. It's a welcome escape from winter to imagine and design for an upcoming celebration in a garden or by the sea. While we don’t share images for weddings that haven’t taken place yet, we love looking back at some of our favorite invitation suites from the past summer—like this elegant coastal wedding at Shining Tides on Cape Cod.

Our Pictorial invitation suite customized for a Cape Cod wedding

It was a pleasure to collaborate with Maggie and Robert to create their custom letterpress wedding invitations for a summer celebration in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. They were looking for stationery that felt classic and elegant, but also fun, bright, and full of personality.

Weddings are often an opportunity to introduce friends to a location that is meaningful to a couple. We worked closely with Maggie and Robert to capture the vintage, preppy feel of a Cape Cod summer vacation while maintaining a sense of understated elegance. Starting with our semi-custom pictorial invitation design, we refined the details together and letterpress printed the entire suite in pink. The invitation cards were finished with hand-painted pink edges, for a subtle, polished detail.

A pink belly band with initials added another layer of color while keeping the pieces neatly together inside soft pink envelopes.

We truly loved creating this invitation suite and the wedding day paper goods. Maggie and Robert—and their families—put so much thought into their guests’ experience, and we wanted the stationery to reflect this, balancing thoughtful, personalized design with a sense of fun.

Joyful Seaside Wedding in Marblehead, MA

September 13, 2025

We’ve had the pleasure of working with so many lovely couples this year to design and letterpress print their wedding invitations. The wedding we’re sharing today, though, is my personal favorite! It was a bit of a dream come true to collaborate with my sweet niece and her fiancé to create their custom wedding stationery. I’ve printed birthday party invitations, graduation announcements and business cards for her over the years but this was my favorite of our collaborations!

They’re thoughtful, sincere, and joyful — and their design choices reflected those qualities. For a modern take on a classic New England wedding, they paired a traditional script with crisp copperplate text printed in a vibrant red ink. The invitation card was clean and elegant, with the focus on the bright colored text. They incorporated imagery throughout the rest of the suite and drew their own illustrations for the “toile-inspired” envelope liner. We used a pale pink card stock for the response cards and envelopes, and created a pennant tag tied around the assembled sets with blush cotton ribbon from our friends at Studio Carta. Each envelope was sealed with a bright red wax seal embossed with their initials.

A customized version of our Timeless invitation suite design

For the wedding day, we designed stationery to complement the invitations. The programs, menus, table cards, and place cards were printed digitally, while we letterpress printed additional tags to tie around the pink dessert favor boxes. The reception was in a tent on a yacht club lawn and the decor was minimal with bright, cheerful flowers, candles and really happy friends and family!
